DBS IMPACTable: Inclusive Dining with Vincent Kok
Use this as a referenceProject background: an inclusive approach to dining
Swallowing difficulties can affect older people. DBS Foundation supports the social enterprise The Project Futurus in introducing texture-modified soft meals. Darkroom Studio produced this YouTube Short with filmmaker and food enthusiast Vincent Kok. His tasting experience introduces the appearance, aroma and flavour of the meals in an accessible way, connecting the story with wider discussion of the silver economy.
Content approach: a familiar face and a first-hand experience
To communicate both inclusion and food enjoyment in a short format, we used the following approach:
A visual surprise: The opening shows soft-meal versions of braised abalone and prawn siu mai, shaped to resemble the original dishes. Vincent Kok's comments on their appearance and his reactions to their smooth texture and familiar flavour invite viewers to reconsider their expectations of food prepared for older diners.
A meaningful conversation: The tasting is intercut with conversations with DBS representative Alphae and The Project Futurus founder Queenie. They introduce the IDDSI framework for texture-modified food and drinks alongside the human value of sharing a table, a meal and an enjoyable occasion.
Short-form storytelling: Designed around YouTube Shorts, the edit moves between tasting reactions, explanations and kitchen footage. Within sixty seconds, it takes the viewer from curiosity about the food to an understanding of the inclusive-dining idea.
Creative outcome: a human story within a CSR initiative
The short approaches a serious social topic through engaging food content. It gives audiences an introduction to soft meals and shows the role of DBS Foundation and The Project Futurus in this inclusive-dining initiative.

Q&A
What does the film mean by inclusive dining at the same table?+
The idea is to make shared meals more inclusive, particularly for older people with swallowing difficulties. The film shows carefully shaped soft-meal versions of foods such as abalone and siu mai, illustrating how familiar appearances and flavours can be part of a meal with family. The emphasis is on the social experience, dignity and enjoyment of eating together.
Why feature Vincent Kok in the tasting film?+
Vincent Kok is known in Hong Kong as a filmmaker and food enthusiast. His first-hand tasting provides an accessible way to discuss a type of food that some audiences may associate only with clinical needs or purées. The film uses his responses to open a conversation about food enjoyment, inclusion and the silver economy.
How does Darkroom Studio present the food on camera?+
We apply food-filming techniques to show the shape, surface detail and sheen of the soft meals. Close views of the dishes are paired with Vincent Kok's tasting reactions, communicating the film's message that food prepared in this way can also be presented as an enjoyable dining experience.
