Sino Group — Landmark South: A Designer’s Perspective on the Workplace
Use this as a referenceProject Background: The Ideas Behind a Building
Set between the hills and waterfront of Wong Chuk Hang, Landmark South was conceived as more than an office building: a place that brings art, work and everyday life together. Darkroom Studio was commissioned to produce an interview film that explained the thinking behind its design through the team’s own words, with a focus on people-centred ideas.
Storytelling Approach: From Design Drawings to Physical Space
Interviews provided the main narrative, with architectural B-roll making abstract design ideas visible:
Spatial Planning: The designers explained the side-core layout: lifts and washrooms sit to one side, freeing up large, column-free, open-plan office areas. Wide interior shots showed how this arrangement opens up Wong Chuk Hang’s hill and waterfront views while allowing flexible use of space.
Wellness and Nature: Reflecting changing expectations of the workplace after the pandemic, the film explored the thinking behind the 9,000 sq ft sky garden. The designers discussed using natural materials to bring a sense of outdoor greenery inside, creating places where tenants could unwind and connect with one another.
Hospitality in an Office Setting: The film also explored the lobby as more than a transitional space. Conceived with the welcome of a hotel foyer, it reflected the idea of treating everyone as a guest and gave the office building’s arrival experience a clear design intention.
In Use: Giving Architecture Context and Character
The designers’ explanations allowed Landmark South to be presented through its ideas as well as its spaces. The film offered multinational businesses and creative companies considering the building a more detailed view of its approach to the workplace.

Q&A
How did the designer interview film explain Landmark South’s architecture?+
First-person accounts from the design team explained the side-core layout in accessible terms. Wide interior shots and fluid camerawork translated architectural plans into a direct visual experience, showing the column-free open-plan areas and the hill and waterfront views they make possible.
How did the film communicate workplace wellness after the pandemic?+
To reflect interest in healthier working environments, the film explored the design of the 9,000 sq ft sky garden. Images of natural materials, planting and light accompanied the designers’ account of bringing greenery indoors and creating an urban space for relaxation and social connection.
Why might a commercial property project use an in-depth interview film?+
Interviews can give the design of a building a human context beyond its physical specifications. By recording the designers’ thinking about hospitality in the workplace and its expression in the lobby, the film presents Landmark South as a building with a considered identity.
