Hang Lung Properties: The Hang Lung 66 Start-up Apprenticeship
Use this as a referenceProject background: supporting local start-up ambitions
The Hang Lung 66 Start-up Apprenticeship provides promising local businesses with physical trading space and practical resources. Darkroom Studio was commissioned to film a series of interviews. The founders' experiences explain what the programme offers and encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to consider their first steps.
Content approach: exploring the programme through conversation
To create a more personal account than a conventional corporate presentation, we combined in-depth interviews with observational filming:
From online retail to a physical shop: The film follows brands such as Rosmania as they use the programme's rental concessions and marketing resources to address the challenges of moving from an online shop to a physical store. At The Peak Galleria, they encounter a varied audience of international visitors.
An entrepreneurial mindset: Founders reflect on the idea that ‘It doesn't have to be perfect, you just have to start’. They also discuss how a physical shop helps them meet customers directly, gather feedback and refine their service.
Making support visible: Footage inside the shops and of teams working together shows the programme's practical support, including marketing assistance and mentoring.
Creative outcome: a people-centred corporate story
The film combines a record of the programme with an encouraging, personal brand narrative. Through the founders' experiences, it gives a concrete expression to Hang Lung's stated values of connecting with customers and pursuing excellence, creating material that can introduce the programme to a wider audience.

Q&A
What is the theme of this Hang Lung CSR film?+
The film explores a corporate social responsibility programme that supports community participation and entrepreneurship. It follows how shared resources and mentoring can help aspiring founders put their plans into practice, translating Hang Lung's stated commitment to making sound choices into individual stories of support and opportunity.
How does Darkroom Studio create an engaging CSR film?+
We take a people-centred, documentary approach. Rather than relying only on figures, we explore participants' experiences and the decisions they have faced. Interviews and natural interactions between mentors and participants help audiences understand the human significance of the programme.
Why turn an ESG or CSR programme into a film?+
Film offers a direct way to explain work related to environmental, social and governance goals. By making abstract corporate values visible through specific people and activities, a CSR film can support communication with investors, the public and employees. Its credibility depends on showing the programme accurately and distinguishing activity from measured impact.
