Sulwhasoo — Ginseng Journey: A Sensory Brand Experience
Use this as a referenceThe Brief: Bringing the Brand’s Ginseng Heritage into a Physical Space
Sulwhasoo’s Ginseng Journey exhibition celebrated the brand’s account of more than half a century of work with ginseng in skincare. Darkroom Studio was commissioned to document the experience, connecting its heritage displays with contemporary technology and light-based art.
The Approach: A Journey through the Senses
Fluid camera movement links the venue’s three principal areas into one visual narrative:
Heritage: In the heritage area, close-ups show the product displays tracing the brand’s story from 1966 and the ginseng specimens on show. These details introduce the history and research themes presented by the exhibition.
Kinetic Light Art: The film’s visual centrepiece is the ginseng light-art gallery. Low-light filming records the movement of the kinetic lighting installation. Rising and falling spheres and lines turn the idea of ginseng’s vitality into a changing visual form.
Sensory Detail: Following Miki Yeung’s visit, the camera records tea tasting in the Korean tea room and the tactile experience of trying a new serum. Her visit gives the viewer a personal route through the exhibition.
The Finished Film: A Brand Experience beyond the Venue
The film brings the physical exhibition into an online format. Its considered images present Sulwhasoo’s heritage, the installations and the visitor experience as parts of the same brand story.
