The Puzzle bag was Jonathan Anderson's first handbag design after joining LOEWE and has become a recognisable part of the brand. To mark its tenth anniversary, LOEWE held the ‘Puzzle 10’ exhibition at Sotheby's Maison in Hong Kong, bringing fashion and art together. Darkroom Studio was invited to record the opening event and present the relationship between the brand's craftsmanship and its experimental aesthetic.
Visual approach: colour, texture and imaginative spaces
The film explores the distinctive design of the exhibition, introducing viewers to a space full of unexpected details:
Velvet and colour: The camera moves through rooms wrapped in soft velvet. Contrasts in lighting and materials draw attention to the colourful Confetti Puzzle Bag and oversized ‘Puzz’ foam charms placed around the exhibition, giving the space a playful, artistic character.
Opening-night guests: The film records guests at the opening, including Hong Kong fashion personalities Michelle Wai, Jay Fu, as well as guests from the Philippines including Sarah Lahbati, BJ Pascual and Liz Uy. Candid footage captures guests interacting with installations and exploring the limited-edition bags, conveying the social energy of the event.
Craftsmanship in detail: Macro shots reveal the leather texture and geometric construction of the Puzzle bag, keeping the material and making process central to the anniversary story.
Creative outcome: taking the celebration beyond the venue
