Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear: A Summer Wear-Test Campaign
Use this as a referenceThe Brief: Showing Foundation in a Summer Wear Test
Product demonstrations give beauty audiences a practical way to assess a campaign’s message. Lancôme wanted to promote its Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation, focusing on its lightweight feel and long-wear positioning in a hot, humid Asian summer. We were commissioned to create a short video that would make the demonstration clear and easy to follow.
The Approach: Side-by-Side Comparison and a Wear Test
We used a split-screen comparison to make the product demonstration immediately legible:
Visual Comparison: One side of the screen shows Lancôme foundation and the other a comparison foundation. The model undergoes the same filmed conditions on each side, allowing viewers to compare the finish. The imagery highlights the campaign’s emphasis on a light, matte appearance.
The Steam and Tissue Test: A steam sequence represents the heat and perspiration associated with summer. Close filming of a tissue pressed against the skin shows the transfer visible during the demonstration, placing the two sides together so viewers can follow the comparison.
A Clean Visual Style: Clean, soft lighting shows the model’s skin and the product presentation in detail, supporting Lancôme’s established beauty identity.
The Finished Film: A Concise Product Demonstration
The film addresses the familiar concern of make-up wearing off in summer through a brisk edit and an easy-to-follow comparison. It provides a focused piece of content for the brand’s summer social campaign, bringing the product and its wear-test presentation into the same short format.

Q&A
How does the product demonstration communicate the foundation’s positioning?+
A visible demonstration gives viewers something concrete to consider. Darkroom Studio used a clear split-screen comparison to show the Lancôme product alongside a comparison foundation. Close-ups record the two sides under the same filmed conditions, highlighting the campaign’s light, matte finish with minimal narration.
How does the film show the campaign’s long-wear and transfer-resistance message?+
We devised a summer-themed wear-test sequence. The camera follows a steam test representing heat and perspiration, then a tissue pressed against the model’s face. The side-by-side imagery makes the transfer visible in this demonstration easy to compare and connects the product presentation with a recognisable summer concern.
Why use a short, direct demonstration for a social campaign?+
A concise demonstration can introduce the product quickly and present a practical response to a familiar concern. A brisk edit moves from the problem of make-up wearing off to the product and the filmed comparison within a short sequence. It is designed to support purchase consideration with a clear visual explanation.
